Bibendum

Bibendum, better known as the Michelin Man, has been the face of the French tire company since 1894, which makes him the oldest brand mascot still on payroll anywhere on Earth. He is assembled from a stack of white tires because early rubber tires actually were pale, predating the carbon black that makes them dark today. He was strange before brands knew how to be cute: the original posters had him drinking a goblet of nails and glass under the slogan Nunc est bibendum, now is the time to drink. He has outlived every mascot trend of two different centuries.
