Microsoft introduced Mico in October 2025 as the visual presence for Copilot Voice. The name is a contraction of Microsoft Copilot. Psyop designed the character around behaviour, with changing auras, facial reactions, props and appearance styles, and Microsoft shipped him as an optional toggle you could switch off. In August 2026 Microsoft began retiring him from Voice and moving the character to Learn Live, which is under ten months in the product he was built for.

2025-10-23 Microsoft introduced Mico as an optional expressive presence in Copilot Voice.

2025-10-24 Users found that tapping Mico repeatedly in voice mode morphs him into a fully animated Clippy. Microsoft never offered Clippy as a selectable appearance.

2026 Psyop published the character system behind Mico, including its behavior, auras, expressions, props, and appearance styles.

2026-08 Microsoft began removing Mico from Copilot Voice and moving the character to Learn Live.
