Mona (Lisa) Octocat

The Octocat, officially Mona Lisa Octocat, is GitHub's mascot: a cat head on five octopus tentacles. She began life as a stock illustration by Simon Oxley, bought for a few dollars in GitHub's earliest days, and became the face of the platform where most of the world's code lives. GitHub leaned in hard, building the Octodex, a gallery of hundreds of official Octocat variants in costumes drawn by its designers. A few dollars of stock art, now one of the most recognized characters in software.
